74 Days of Summer

Bonjour everybody!

On November 14 I landed in Thailand. That day I exchange cold and grey European winter to exotic hot tropical and sweaty South East Asian winter. Yes, it's winter here although for my Lithuanian flesh it seems like it's summer.

I remember well my first days in Thailand; I could barely breathe and I could not imagine my life without a fan anymore. And now I can't live without a heat. +20 in the mountains seems cold and unbearable :) The idea of leaving this hot and humid climate really freaks me out.

It's amazing how human beings can adapt. We are indeed an extraordinary creatures adapting to any conditions of life.

The time stops and runs as crazy in the same time when you travel. I am lost with day numbers, months and sometimes even years. The only time measure is booked flights or notes in my notebook. Otherwise time really doesn't exist.

Our travel plans, well to be honest there are no travel plans, we still travel with no directions. Last two weeks we volunteered in Bamboo Village close to Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia.
Volunteering was easy and very relaxing. Surrounded by million of cats and little kittens we lived an easy life next to the jungle.

And then we had to make a decision. Where to travel next. We did explore Malaysia and felt like it's time to leave. When you don't have a plan it's hard to make decisions. Sri Lanka, Myanmar or Philippines. These countries were on a radar since Air Asia could offer some cheap flights and the weather season was lovely to visit.

Philippines have won. Visa is ready, backpack not yet. Tomorrow morning we will be travelling straight to the capital of the country I know so less about. Screw my geography lessons, now it's time to learn some real geography.

I wish you sunshine in your hearts!

Welcome To Malaysia

Hello everybody and happy new year!!!

I am in Malaysia. The country with food from heaven (or just simply from India) and the country with extremely friendly people. People who finally don’t want to rip me off (well, at least I don’t feel it), who chat and smile for free. I like Malaysia. Hitch hiking is easy and they have lush jungle.

My New Year Eve was unordinary. I finally celebrated it on the beach with a dress on top. No alcohol this time and real sober memories. Simple but unordinary.

And again we got some complications, regarding the health. Dom got a flu and my feet got an infection from mosquito scratch. All my life I scratch mosquito bites and I always get into the trouble. When will I finish my war against mosquitos?

So my feet got infected with all yellow pus coming out, ouch, nothing sexy at all. I did not care about it then. On a way to bus station it started to hurt me a lot, so Dom went ahead and I stayed on a road all crying like a little baby. And then, our magic friend arrived (we like to call him Prabakar, like from the book called ‘’Shantaram’’). He took us to the hospital, waited for us, took Dom to pack all our stuff, brought us to this secret little Chinese pharmacy where he insisted us buying some magical creams. Everywhere where he was going he was just chatting with everybody, he was like a king of this neighbourhood. Then he took us to this cool only local people place, ate with us and left. It was something amazing.

We went to the mountains, visited some tea plantations, healed our illnesses, chilled on a beach and now we just travelled to Penang island, where, according to many books are the best food of Malaysia. I am giving my word, I will test the food and let you know my opinion.

Very soon we will be volunteering, but about this next time.

Enjoy,
