Welcome to the Philippines- the Land of Jeepneys

My dear ones,

I know it’s been a while since I wrote my last post but the Philippines were definitely worth putting my computer away for. Occasionally J

When I travel my two very important reasons to pick a certain place is the nature and local people. And I must say I did complete my task in the Philippines.

Remember when I said that I don’t know anything about this country? For now I know that this beautiful 7000 islands country has one of the friendliest smiley people I ever met. I am not talking about Manila though.  The chaotic capital didn’t charm me at all.

When we arrived in the Philippines we headed straight to Romblon province and the islands around. And we did find all what we expected: great diving, beautiful coral reefs, some wrecks, turtles, white sand beaches, friendly local people, children so chatty and interested about us. We had quite few proper good conversations with locals. Oh, Philippines must be explored again and again.

Traveling was a little bit hard, nearly everywhere you need to take a boat and the transport on land took ages.  But the crazy thing is jeepneys. You must come to the Philippines only for them. How great is to travel on a roof with 20 more kids around you on some dodgy scary roads with a speedy driver. That’s why I love Asia, no regulations and stupid rules, screw any risk assessments!
Our 3 weeks ran quite quickly. I had a great time in the Philippines and I am sure I am coming back sometime again.

Tomorrow is our flight to Borneo - the paradise of wildlife. We got accepted to some volunteering project in the mountains taking care of some retreat centre. Climbing high in Borneo is also on our list. More details I am leaving for the next post J

Stay active and enjoy the rest of February!

Miss you,
