Re-connected to Sark and Myself

Hello everybody,

I took some time, I know. My last post was in June, oops!

I am doing fine, in fact way better than before.

I discovered that I have issues with coming back to the same place again. Some of you probably remember that I spent 6 months last year living, working and enjoying in Sark. Yes, the most beautiful island in the Channel Islands, with no cars, streetlights, real nature paradise.

So this summer I came back there. But it was very strange feeling. Few days felt like some psychedelic bubble, I was over joyful to see everybody, I started to work after 9 months not working, I was living again with Dom, oh I felt over excited about everything.

And then slowly I realized that Sark is different than last year. In fact, Sark was the same, I guess I was different. I was feeling very lonely. You know that horrible feeling when you feel like some little and unimportant creature. I don't like that feeling. I started to compare experiences that I had in the same place. Like, oh last year Sark was so sunny and hot, oh last year I was going there and there, oh last year I had some friends, oh last year...blah blah blah. Why do we always have to compare things?

But with time I started to learn stop thinking about the past and just be happy of what I have now. And I am so privileged to be here, all the beautiful nature around me, the sea, Dom, all the beautiful people here, numerous boat trips, caves, adventures, full moon, real living. Somewhere I read that loneliness is a sign when you need to spend more time with yourself. It's true. I guess when I was feeling lonely I didn't know how to enjoy time with myself. Reading, swimming, playing, drawing, writing, walking and observing that what makes you connected within yourself. And then all the beauty comes back to you.

Sark is treating me well and I feel that I am reconnected to it again.

A month or so left and I will be diving into unknown waters again.

Have a great summer! Enjoy it!

Lithuania and Job Hunting

Hello everybody,

It's been a while :)

I am in my native land Lithuania and these weeks that I've been here was concentrated on relaxing plus job hunting. Two opposites, ha!

So what can I say. It really sucks when you have to look for a job, that is my conclusion.

Since I came back to Lithuania just before the summer I thought that I could do some summer job even here. Can you imagine? People who know me they can tell that I like Lithuania but after so much time wandering around I was never even considering anything here. Oh well, summers are great in Lithuania, my favourite season with warm weather, sunny days, camping and staying by the lakes. So I decided to create my first lithuanian CV and dive into the waters of we-are-all-grown-up-and-we-are-looking-for-job.

I have been invited to 3 job interviews in Lithuania and I must say it was funny. I had to leave my first interview in the middle of it cause I really did not like a guy and everything seemed like a dodgy sales/internet job with imaginary company and imaginary money.

My second one was pretty informal but it was for a Tourism Manager position in one of the biggest travel company in Lithuania. Ha! Can you imagine me there between all those ''serious'' people? I couldn't, in fact I was not even selected anyway! It was just pretty sad to sit there and talk with those two interviewers. They looked so bored of their lifes, no energy, no smile, no enthusiasm and they kept repeating that the job won't be as excited as my travels. Of course I am not expecting the same experience as diving for fun somewhere in Indonesia but common don't demotivate me saying that everything is so boring. Oh well, I guess I need something more vibrant, creative and challenging...

My 3rd interview was for the hostel job and I loved everything about it, the director seemed cool, people were chilled, good and relaxing atmosphere, however they could offer only part time position which here in Lithuania with a minimum wage would be not enough to survive.

I got bored of looking for jobs here in Lithuania, in fact I got a bit dissapointed. Everything seemed so formal and people were really thinking that something that they do is so hard that some girl who travelled around, has a degree and work and life experience will not learn some reservations programme. And this attitude I-am-better-than-you-cause-I-worked-50-years-in-the-same-boring-chair, eugh. I started to question myself do I want to be surrounded by this. And I am not just talking about Lithuania, I am talking about everywhere. Do I want to get into that system. And if not where can I find something that really attracts me and meets my life's philospohy. I am sure those jobs exist I just have to keep looking.

And then the message from the sky. I got the job with really nice people in one of the bar in my beloved Sark where I spent my last summer. No formalities, fun atmosphere, future events and gigs and some extra cash for something that will happen after this summer. My next travels probably :)

Well, sometimes the jobs just fall from the sky, I guess. And the most important to follow your heart and intuition.

For now I still have some time to forget about the I-am-looking-for-a-job title and concentrate on spending time in the nature with people or animals I love. Soon I will be packing my backpack and continuing another adventures.

Have a relaxing summer and don't work too hard :)
